How to configure avast! Endpoint Protection for increased protection using the SOA console

Here are the changes we make to the default settings of avast! Endpoint Protection versions (Plus, Suite, and Suite Plus) when managed using the avast! Small Office Administration console (SOA)

Open SOA, and go to Group view, pick the desired group, and Edit group settings:

Choose Shield settings, File System shield, then Sensitivity:

Set the “Heuristics sensitivity” to high, and enable “Scan for potentially unwanted programs”  Now click on the “Mail Shield” tab and repeat this exact process for the “Mail Shield”

Set the “Heuristics sensitivity” to high, and enable “Scan for potentially unwanted programs”  Now click on the “Web Shield” tab and repeat this exact process for the “Web Shield”

After you set the “Heuristics sensitivity” to high, and enable “Scan for potentially unwanted programs” and  now click “save” at the bottom right:

For those users of the “Plus” versions using the Microsoft outlook mail client, here are the most aggressive settings

For the anti-spam filter:

Cloud services should be enabled for the best protection:

Under Browser protection, I disable WebRep so browsing occurs faster (only an End-user rating system)

Last point I want to show you is “AutoSandbox”  avast! can stop all known versions of CryptoLocker. However,

unknown/new versions (zero day) and Polymorphic infections will pass all 20 stages of anti-virus analysis, and

AutoSandbox should be enabled to deal with this type of code.  With AutoSandbox disabled, now we are just like

Symantec (let the infection occur, and try to mitigate the infection after the fact):
